About Midwest Perio

President’s Message

Greetings from Madrid!

I hope you are having a wonderful Fall as we head into the Winter (I am crossing my fingers for a mild one!). As it has been the tradition for many years, the 66th Midwest Society of Periodontology (MSP) Annual Meeting will be held in Chicago in the Renaissance Downtown Hotel on February 24th-26th.

Under the leadership of the Program Chair, Dr. Sukirth Ganesan, and with the support of the MSP Executive Board, we have prepared an exciting educational program:

  • Friday, February 24th, 1:00 – 4:30 pm
Hands-on with Dr. Richard Miron: New Trends in PRF Therapy.
This separate paid event is sponsored by Stella Life.
  • Saturday, February 25th, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Dr. Joseph Kan: The Digital Approach to Full Arch Implant Dentistry.
This event is sponsored by Nobel Biocare.
  • Saturday, February 25th, 1:30 – 4:00 pm
Dr. Joseph Kan: Peri-implant Tissue Reconstruction in the Aesthetic Zone.
This event is sponsored by Nobel Biocare.
  • Saturday, February 26th, 8:30 – 11:30 am
Dr. Satish Kumar: Periodontal and Systemic Diseases – Connecting and Disconnecting the Dots.

As in previous years, the Graduate Student Research Forum will start at 7:45 am in the main auditorium and we will have posters in the foyer area. Dr. Megumi Williamson is leading the coordination of these events for this upcoming annual meeting. If you are a graduate program director or are involved in the training of graduate students in advanced education programs in the Midwest, please encourage them to submit their research abstracts.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate our Past President, Dr. Megan Ratliff, and the 2022 MSP Annual Meeting Program Chair, Dr. Trisha Crosby, for an extraordinary program and a highly successful meeting. We hope that this next annual meeting is an even bigger event to celebrate our specialty and spend a great time together.

I hope that you all enjoy the holiday season and I look forward to seeing you in Chicago,

Gustavo Avila-Ortiz
